Nokia Asha 500 dilengkapi dengan platform Asha, membolehkan pengguna untuk menggunakan beberapa teknologi asas telefon pintar, disamping hadir dengan beberapa aplikasi menarik seperti WhatsApp, WeChat, LINE dan sebagainya.
Nokia Asha 500 juga turut memudahkan pengguna untuk merakamkan gambar, dimana ia boleh dilakukan dengan hanya satu swipe dari lock-screen, dan tap pada mana-mana bahagian skrin untuk merakamkan gambar. Pengguna juga boleh seterusnya berkongsi gambar ke Facebook atau Twitter dengan hanya satu sentuhan dari rakaman gambar mereka.
